Recently a Dalit guest lecturer of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi has been removed from his services on the grounds, not connected with his teaching duties. It was for post he made in his Facebook. The post appeals to read Indian Constitution and Hindu Code Bill. He wrote in FB thus: “Rather than doing nine days fast during Navaratri, it will be better for women to read for nine days, the Indian Constitution and Hindu Code Bill, their life will be liberated from slavery and fear.”
The womenfolk can gain knowledge about their position in the society instead of undertaking fasting at the time of festivals. Apart from the classroom activity, Mithilesh Kumar, the concerned faculty had educated women – public at large through social media.In fact, he has upheld the values and spirit of our Constitution that has been provided to the country in the name of our people.

Hindu Code Bill was an attempt made by Dr.B.R.Ambedkar as Union Law Minister as per the direction of the Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The Bill at the time of its introduction in Parliament faced stiff opposition from Sanatanic forces.
Nehru had acceded to the opposition and requested Dr.B.R. Ambedkar to withdraw the Bill. Dr.B.R.Ambedkar had to resign as Law Minister stating that the move had affected his self – respect and dutiful functioning.
Later a few rights for women were introduced in 1955. Women must be educated to realize their rights further and to liberate from subjugation. In our country half of the women populace get primary education: 27 percent only go to college education. Under such dismal position of women in higher education, educating women through other modes to realize their position and rights is required very much.Appealing women to read and understand Indian Constitution, identify the hurdles for women to secure their rights and get empowerment is the basic duty that must be performed by every citizen.
The people who protested and made complaint about the social media post represent the students’ wing ofSangh Parivar. The complaint is that the faculty had commented on Hindu religion through a social media post. It is said that due to the act of the faculty there is a wide scale anger among students which might impact University environment and examinations and hence he has been removed his position as guest faculty. He is also prohibited from entering the premises of the institute.
Any progressive advocacy or practice is interpreted as if it is against religious belief and faith. It is the aggressive approach adopted by Sangh Parivar. It is nothing but negating women to realize the need of their rights and their exercise.
What happened to Dr.B.R.Ambedkar in early 1950s at wider level has happened to a faculty in an educational institution at Varanasi, who is committed to progressive ideologies of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar in the 75th year of independence.
A few may not be willing to do good to society. Let them be so but they should not restrain it under the garb of religion. The noble deed of educating the society should not be punished by an educational institution itself.
