Why this hurry for the AIADMK Government?
Consequent on the 25% increase in Medical Seats by the Medical Council of India, the AIADMK government has hurriedly allotted 10% of seats for the students belong to weaker sections among forward communities. When other State Governments have not taken any decision on the request of the Medical Council of India, why should the Tamil Nadu Government volunteer to allot the seats?
Particularly when conflicting and confusing views are prevailing all over the country about the 10% reservation for the weaker sections among upper caste people, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu have consulted and discussed with the senior ministers regarding the allotment of 10% seats.
News have also come out that to provide 10% reservation to Upper castes, 1000 seats have been allotted additionally this year and the Chief Minister has requested to make sure that the 69% reservation in Tamil Nadu is not affected. (Times of India 12-06-2019)
When the State Governments under BJP Rule have not taken any decision and still considering the proposals, what is the background for the AIADMK govt. in taking the decision in such a hurry, proving itself a more loyal than the king.
A question to the Chief Minister:
The 31% seats allotted under the Open Competition is intended for all communities. On what basis 10% of reservation out of this was allotted for the ‘poor’ among upper caste? Is it social justice to grab and give the seats to a few when it is meant for all? We warn of dire consequences.
