The State Level discussion meeting of the Dravidian Students Federation was held on 11th May, 2025 at Periyar Thidal, Chennai. Members from several Districts participated and discussed various issues. During the meet seven vital Resolutions were proposed, seconded and passed by unanimous consent, as stated herebelow:

Gratitude to Asiriyar
The BJP Government headed by Modi has been continuously imposing anti-people policies such as NEET, National Education Policy (NEP), Viswakarma Yojana etc; It is bent upon burying deep the noble principle of Social Justice. Asiriyar Dr.K.Veeramani has been identifying each atrocious move of the Union Government and voicing protest by mobilising opposing fronts without delay. He has also been infusing awareness in the Dravidian Students fronts all over the state and preventing them from getting harmed by the unjust moves of the Union Government. By his relentless efforts and hard work all the Dravidian Students of Tamil Nadu have been protected from undesirable effects. The Dravidian Students Federation conveys its gratitude to Asiriyar.
He has been active in public life for more than 80 long years; more than 60 years as the Editor of ‘Viduthalai’. As the President of the Dravidar Kazhagam Movement, he has been rendering commendable services for the past 48 years. His journey following in the foot prints of Thanthai Periyar is going on successfully till this day and would continue meritoriously. Through Asiriyar’s unparalleled services, Tamil Nadu has reached glorious heights. The oppressed people and the Backward Class people all over the country have acquired Reservations in employment and education. An awareness of Social justice has cropped up by his unequalled services. He has scripted history by his incomparably great tasks. It is hereby RESOLVED to obey Asiriyar’s command and face all the challenges by the collective efforts of the Dravidian Students Federation. We swear to work vigorously and strengthen his hands by our loyal services and contribution.

Thanking the Chief Minister
The Governor of Tamil Nadu Thiru.R.N.Ravi had been trying indirectly to exercise his control over the Higher Education Department of Tamil Nadu by his undesirable activities. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru.M.K.Stalin has retrieved the education rights of the State and protected social justice. He has protected the rights of the Universities and also the rights of all the States by his appropriate legal steps. It is RESOLVED by the Dravidian Students Federation to commend him with a deep debt of gratitude.

Periodicals of the DK Movement
The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has made it clear that social justice and scientific temper alone should get top priority in the educational institutions of Tamil Nadu. Treating them as the elixir of life, the Dravidar Kazhagam Movement has been publishing ‘Viduthalai’, Daily for the past 90 years. Other periodicals ‘UNMAI’, ‘The Modern Rationalist’ and ‘Periyar Pinju’ are also being published adhering to Dravidian ideals. Making these periodicals reach all the students and teachers in Tamil Nadu would be extremely beneficial to the Movement. It is hence RESOLVED to urge the Government of Tamil Nadu to make these periodicals available to all the schools and libraries in the state by the patronage of the Department of School Education in Tamil Nadu.

Seven vital tasks
It is RESOLVED to accomplish the following seven vital tasks during the year 2025 – 2026:
(i) To motivate school students by disbursing leaflets/bills/ fliers that consist of our statements, propagating vital policies and principles.
(ii) Inviting students of schools and colleges in all the districts to join the Dravidian Students Federation. Writing on the walls in prominent places the words “JOIN DSF” (Dravidian Students Federation)
(iii) Organising college students meet in all the districts.
(iv) Enhancing the number of members in the Dravidian Students Federation (DSF).
(v) Training the functionaries of DSF and the cadres in all the districts to involve themselves in social media related tasks.
(vi) ‘Viduthalai’ is the world’s only Rationalist Daily. This should reach the next generation and cause an impact on them. For this purpose propagation is to be done with the assistance of all the DSF members. All the next generation students must have an access to ‘Viduthalai’.
(vii) 1925-2025 denotes the centenary of the Self-Respect Movement. It has scripted a century old history. ‘Kudi Arasu’ weekly has also achieved it. Based on these two milestones, competitions must be held in schools and colleges. Debates, oratorical competitions, essay competitions and painting competitions should be conducted revolving around the topics – “Self-Respect Movement” and “Kudi Arasu”.
It is RESOLVED to accomplish all these seven vital tasks during the year 2025-2026.

Propaganda against Drug-Addiction
An awareness must be instilled in the youth about the detrimental effects of harmful drugs and alcohol. The students of marginalised families are terribly getting spoiled by the use of various tobacco based drugs, alcohol, cocaine etc; Their future becomes bleak by this addiction. The Dravidian Students Federation has taken vigorous steps as measures for correction. Addiction to drugs leads to loss of self-respect. Besides religion, caste, tinsel world, social media, alcohol and tobacco, harmful drugs are also dragging our students on the wrong direction. We are in the centenary year of self-respect movement. At this juncture, students should not lose their self-respect and dignity under any circumstance.
The Dravidian Students Federation (DSF) has decided to undertake the task of correcting the students already addicted to drugs and to prevent the next generation from falling a prey to harmful drugs. Through cultural programmes, mime-shows, skits, competitions, awareness camps, pamphlets, short films, documentaries and various other modes, students should be made to realise the hazards of drugs.
Hence, it is RESOLVED by the Dravidian Students Federation (DSF) to carry on with this task throughout 2025-2026 and save the lives of the youth. All the members are urged upon to involve themselves in this noble task and help DSF achieve its objective successfully. This is to be treated as a very big challenge and tackled. Students are the custodians of tomorrow’s society. Hence, DSF believes, it is its bounden duty to save them from the evil effects of toxic drugs. All the DSF members are expected to act adhering to this vital Resolution.

Staying away from toxic elements
There are various toxic forces and outfits provoking students and instigating them to indulge in undesirable activities revolving around castes, religions, racial extremism etc; — students must be prevented from access to such vested interests. It is our duty to make our students stay away from violence, unrest and anti-social activities. Our DSF members should be alert and precautious in protecting our students from disastrous ruin.
All the like minded movements, forums and outfits who promote social justice, equality, universal brotherhood and communal harmony should give top priority to curbing provocation by toxic forces. The State Government, especially the Police department and the Department of education should take necessary steps with great alertness and caution. It is RESOLVED to urge them all to help us achieve this objective. The DSF invites them all to extend their support and co-operation in order to prevent our students from going astray and travel on wrong directions in life. All the DSF members are urged upon to act adhering to this important resolution.

The hazardous NEET
NEET related suicidal deaths and inexplicable sufferings of students and their parents have become regular occurrences at present. The ‘NEET’ crushes under its heels, the basic structure of medical education. The foundation itself stands terribly shaken. The Bills seeking exemption for Tamil Nadu from NEET were passed twice in the State Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu, but the Bill has not been granted assent by the Union Government. The Bill remains in abeyance for a long period. It is against the Constitution, the rights of the State and also a violation of the Supreme Court judgements. The war to eradicate NEET has been going on for the past 9 years. It is RESOLVED to urge Asiriyar Dr.K.Veeramani to chalk out plans to annihilate NEET. Our DSF is ready to obey his command and act accordingly. We are with him in the noble task of establishing social justice and retrieving the rights of the State
