Had the earlier system of hereditary caste-based education (“Kuladharma Education”) not been abolished during the Kamaraj regime, would Tamil Nadu today have become a leading educational state capable of guiding the rest of India?
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay’s announcement of extending the Breakfast Scheme in government and government aided schools upto class VIII is highly of appropriate.
It reflects Tamil Nadu’s unique political culture that the government has chosen to continue and expand a scheme initiated by the previous Stalin-led administration rather than viewing it through a narrow partisan lens.
