It is customary for the Union government’s Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) to publish the data on reservation in Union government jobs and positions in its Annual Report.
But in the latest Annual Report (2023-24) the data on reservation are not provided. It has to be construed not as an omission but ‘deliberate concealment’ on the part of the Union government. Perhaps, the non-availability of the data on reservation would reveal the ‘inadequate representation’ in the jobs and positions from the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and the Backward Classes. The intention behind the omission may distance the legal claim of the oppressed sections in the bureaucratic – governance of the country.
From the total employees central services of 30 lakhs, since 2018, the data on reservation are provided for just about 19 lakh employees, with no explanation as to who are being left out. The omission of data that is otherwise ‘deliberate concealment’ of information that exposes the anti-social justice stand of the saffron rulers at the Centre since 2014. The move of the disarming the marginalised communities must be propagated to stake claim for their due representation in the Central Services.
