The intellectual scholars Prof. A. Ayyasamy and Prof. S.F.N. Chelliah passed away on 16.06.2019 and 25.07.2019 respectively.
The continuous contributions made by them in the publication of The Modern Rationalist have shown their committed involvement to the cause of rationalism. Apart from the editorial related works, Prof. A. Ayyasamy had actively associated himself in writing the “History of Vaikom Struggle”, the first agitation for human rights in India led by Thanthai Periyar in 1924. Prof. S.F.N. Chelliah was associating himself in the translation work of ‘Lovable Life’ which was adorning the inner cover of ‘The Modern Rationalist’, every month.
