We are shocked by the news of the passing away of our beloved Comrade Sitaram Yechury, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He was a committed ideologue throughout his life. He has left an indelible impression in the Parliament and in the minds of the people. We have lost an effective Parliamentarian and an unparalleled Communist Veteran.
Sitaram Yechury was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. On several occasions he used to have conversation with me in Tamil. He was our companion on the path of our policies and principles. It is difficult to believe that such a phenomenal warrior has left us all. Thanthai Periyar used to say that such noble people are snatched away from us by crooked nature.
His untimely passing away at this crucial juncture in our national politics is undeniably a severe blow on us and an irreparable loss for the CPI (M). He had been relentlessly striving against the political crisis like a brave commander on a battle field. His passing away is certainly a great loss for us, and yet let us console ourselves and bear it.
Establishing an egalitarian society of absolute equality in all respects was his unfulfilled dream. Let us all fight together to make his dream come true. Only by winning on his behalf we can pay him a fitting tribute and show our gratitude.
The Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) conveys its heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family members of Sitaram Yechury, to the ideological family CPI (M) and all its comrades. We sincerely share their grief and express our consolation.
A Salute of Honor to Comrade Sitaram Yechury! May his glory last for ever!
