A special function was arranged by Dravidar Kazhagam to release two books on Periyar’s contribution to protect human rights and the centenary souvenir of a former sub editor of ‘Viduthalai’. The book ‘The Human Rights Defender – Thanthai Periyar’ was the edited version of the thesis of Dr. Durai. Chandrasekaran, General Secretary of Dravidar Kazhagam, for his Doctoral degree. The English version of the Tamil book was also released.
Thiru. Nilavu. Pu. Ganesan, had served once as the Sub-Editor of ‘Viduthalai’, World’s only Rationalist Daily. His birth centenary souvenir was also released in the function by K. Thirunavukkarasu, Dravidian Research Author. He spoke about his relationship with Nilavu Pu. Ganesan and his commitment to the ideals of Periyar. The adherence is continued by the sons and family members of the centenarian. Prof. Suba Veerapandian, General Secretary of Dravidian Tamil Federation, reviewed the books.Thiru.C.V.M.P. Ezhil Arasan and Dr.N. Ezhilan, Members of Tamil Nadu State Legislative Assembly received the released books and addressed. Asiriyar Dr.K.Veeramani, President, Dravidar Kazhagam in his special address, described the hard work of Dr.Durai. Chandrasekaran in completing the research work on Periyar.
It was very apt on his part to bring out the English version of the book, so that the ideals of Periyar would reach readers throughout the world. This is part of the Globalisation of Periyar Mission. The authors of the books were felicitated by Asiriyar. The family members of Self Respective Nilavu Pu.Ganesan were also felicitated. The function was presided over by Poet Kali. Poongundran, Vice-President, Dravidar Kazhagam. The audience were welcomed by V. Kumaresan, Treasurer, Dravidar Kazhagam. Kanchi Prabhakaran, Comrade Publishers proposed vote of thanks.
