Recently the Prime Minister Narendra Modi – led BJP Government has changed the colour of the Doordarshan logo from red to orange. This is the height of extremely crazy saffronisation. Thiru.M.K.Stalin, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has condemned it in one single word – “FASCISM”. He has further added that the election results would show that the people have risen up against the totalitarian attitude of the BJP.
The plan of the BJP to saffronise everything is shocking, indeed. Earlier, saffron paint was applied to the ‘statue of the great Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar’. This was done also on the statues of many leaders and stalwarts of Tamil Nadu. A DD-Tamil channel which had a wonderful Tamil name ‘PODHIGAI’ was given again the name ‘Doordarshan’.
The pure Tamil name ‘Vaanoli’ was also Sanskritised as ‘Akashvani’. And now the logo itself has been saffronised.
The saffronisation of many Union government organisations is the committed action initiated towards the ideological dictatorship. It has to be arrested and switched back to the original colour with regional name of Government owned T.V. channel. The move must be opposed and condemned by all people beyond the barriers of political parties.
Some from the BJP coterie have ridiculously commented that red colour stood for communism and hence the decision to change it. Does it not sound silly? The I.N.D.I.A. bloc leaders have criticised severely that the colour change move is infact illegal. It seems the BJP is trying to saffronise the entire country. It is an unpardonable misuse of Government machinery.
Several leaders in Tamil Nadu have urged the Election Commission of India to immediately act on this issue since it seems BJP is trying to influence a section of voters indirectly. It is obviously a ploy to impose Hindutva ideology in Government departments. Eminent scholars believe the BJP is misusing the Government machinery to campaign for them. Hence, the intervention of the Election Commission of India (ECI) is solicited to get the change of logo colour repealed. Let us wait and see whether the needful is done.
