The Interim Financial Statement (Budget) for the year 2026–2027 was presented on the 17th February 2026, in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly by Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu. Though termed an “Interim Budget,” the Finance Minister’s 142-minute tireless speech unfolded like a remarkable compilation of achievements of the innovative Dravidian Model governance.
A Stern Rebuttal to Those Who Engage in Deception!
The Union Government, led by the BJP, is deliberately imposing an “artificial financial crisis” on the Tamil Nadu government under the incomparable leadership of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. The Union BJP government does not wish this government to earn goodwill among the people. Though they have managed to establish their saffron rule in some states through various tactics and political strategies, they have not been able to capture Tamil Nadu—the land of Periyar and self-respect. Out of that frustration, they have resorted to indirect means by reducing financial allocations as an instrument of vengeance, hoping to weaken the Dravidian Model government.
But their plan “will never succeed, nor will we allow it to succeed.” Through exemplary administrative capability, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s Dravidian Model government has made this clear to the entire nation. This Interim Budget stands as a thunderous rebuttal to those who engage in deceit.
The RSS–BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government ruling at the
Centre has been continuously creating financial strain for Tamil Nadu. This Interim Budget presents precise statistical data explaining how such artificial financial constraints are imposed, and serves as documentary evidence proclaimed.
A Government That Never Bows—Nor Makes Others Bow
With the radiance of social justice embodied in the ideals “Everything for Everyone” and “All for All,” this financial statement ensures that people from every department under the Tamil Nadu government can safeguard their rights without fear. It reflects a government of dignity and self-respect—one that does not bow its head, nor makes others bow.
Though obstacles may be many, this Budget shines like a lighthouse, proving that this government has the strength to endure and overcome them.
Two Major Examples of Unparalleled Achievement
- The long-pending issue of the Old Pension Scheme for government employees, unresolved for 22 years, was not ignored like in the previous regime. The Dravidian Model government has announced constructive decisions, immersing government employees in joy.
(It is believed that any remaining dues will also be announced by the Chief Minister in due course. Roads themselves seem to turn into public forums in this people’s government that listens to the people.)
- Under the Kalaignar Women’s Entitlement Scheme, 1.31 crore women receive Rs. 1,000 every month. Attempts were allegedly made to stall payments during the election months of March, April, and May through political manoeuvring. Countering such malicious intent, the government has announced payment of three months’ installments together and, in addition, Rs. 2,000 as summer relief to help families cope with rising heat due to global warming—totalling Rs. 5,000. This has brought pleasant surprise to women and rendered political opponents ineffective in their propaganda.
Tamil Nadu and Its People Are Happy
Despite the Union RSS–BJP Modi government’s efforts to artificially create financial scarcity for Tamil Nadu—such as withholding agreed funds or delaying allocations—the Chief Minister has demonstrated financial prudence and calm management. As a result, Tamil Nadu continues to achieve concentrated and meaningful victories, and its people remain happy.
False allegations are brushed aside like dust. The Chief Minister demonstrates that his sole duty is daily service to the people.
Even amid such financial pressure, this flawless administration functions like a powerful independent engine—operating with unmatched speed and steady wisdom. As a result, investors across the world are eagerly stepping forward to invest in Tamil Nadu.
The Economic Survey clearly shows how Tamil Nadu has become the second-largest achieving state.
Turning Mountains of Opposition into Melting Snow
In line with the proverb “Wisdom is Strength,” the leader of the Dravidian Model government melts mountains of opposition and slander like snow. Those who falsely accuse the government of excessive borrowing do not understand economic fundamentals.
Borrowing has been kept within permissible limits, ensuring economic growth capable of repaying debts. The concluding part of the Budget speech itself serves as a lesson in this regard.
Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu’s lengthy address stands as a valuable and instructive lesson in public finance. Similarly, Agriculture Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam presented a separate Agriculture Budget, which is a commendable compilation of progressive measures to uplift farmers.
The Union government scrapped the Railway Budget, reducing its importance to zero. It is noteworthy that even the Supreme Court has questioned whether railway projects are merely paper announcements.
Separate Agriculture Budget—A Shining Jewel of the Stalin Government
Providing a separate budget to safeguard farmers’ welfare and ensure agricultural growth is a shining jewel of the Dravidian Model “Stalin” government.
Congratulations to the Chief Minister, Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu, Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare M.R.K. Panneerselvam, the Finance Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary T. Udhayachandran IAS, and the Agriculture Secretary.
