During his visit to Australia, Asiriyar Dr.K. Veeramani participated in the International Women’s Day Celebration held on 15th March, 2025 at Sydney. The event was organised by Periyar Ambedkar Thoughts Circle (PATCA) in Vent Worthville Hall, West Sydney. Several outfits in Australia, striving to eradicate caste based oppressions collaborated with PATCA and conducted the event jointly.
Ms. Durga Owen, one of the young leaders of the Labour Party in Australia, was a Guest of honour. She is a renowned Advocate too serving as a Professor at Western Sydney University. Former Australian Senator Lee Ryan was another reputable Guest of Honour. She delivered a speech conveying her thanks to Dr.K.Veeramani for his presence.
The content of her speech was as follows, in a nutshell:
“International Women’s Day is being celebrated by PATCA in a grand manner. Periyar Ambedkar Thoughts Circle – Australia (PATCA) has been at the forefront in protest against caste based disparities. I too heard about this evil only a few years back. Caste evil was like an endemic disease long ago but it has spread even over Australia and many other countries like a Pandemic. This is a matter of grave concern, indeed. I am really shocked by this widespread caste – virus. Events like this should be held frequently to enhance awareness in our people.”
“PATCA – 2025 and other associate outfits have been against Right Wing thoughts, striving to abolish caste fanaticism. The progressive activities of PATCA are commendable. I am glad to find this hall crowded. Many are found standing for want of seats to occupy. They are all eager to listen to the speeches of delegates. The speech of Dr.K.Veeramani and Advocate Arulmozhi would be the highlights of today’s event.”
“Renowned Advocate, Professor of Western Sydney University and a functionary of Australian Labour Party, Ms.Durga Owen, spoke very well on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindutva extremism based on the Right Wing thought and principles. She explained in detail how laws are being violated in India to perpetuate caste extremism and caste based atrocities. PATCA has been commendably striving to expose caste fanaticism and the Right Wing extremism associated with it. The services of PATCA in Australia are undeniably noteworthy.”
Ms.Lee Ryan further said – “By the efforts of PATCA, the Human Rights Commission in Australia has accepted caste system as a form of racial extremism. This is a welcome change, indeed. Through the restless struggles of Periyar Ambedkar Thoughts Circle – Australia (PATCA), Queensland has become today the first Australian State to recognise the voice of protest in the Western World against caste based discriminations. PATCA has caused a widespread consciousness all over Australia about the sinister effects of caste system and the dire need of its annihilation. As a former senator of Australia, I place on record my appreciation to all the functionaries of Periyar Ambedkar Thoughts Circle.”
