Mr. M. Govindasamy inaugurated the Periyar Library
‘Periyar Library’ was established on the eve of ‘Periyar 140’ at Jalan, Aakop Plantation Government School, Kapper, Selangor State, Malaysia, in collaboration with the Periyar Self Respect Propaganda Institution. Tmt. Shantha Kumari, Headmistress of the School presided. The library was inaugurated by M. Govindasamy, Periyar Propagandist.
7th Library: On 15th March 2019, the 7th Periyar Library was opened at Tamil School situated in Kuala Lipis, Pahang State, Malaysia. The Library was inaugurated by M. Govindasamy, Periyar Propagandist & Horticultural Project Consultant and presented with more than 500 books. While inaugurating, he appealed to the students to follow the humanist principles of Periyar. The inaugural event took place with the presence of Mr. Niraimadi Ammalu Balan, the Headmistress of the school. Besides the Periyar stalwarts, G. Avoodayar, R. Periasamy, K. Krishnan along with the functionaries of Parent-Teachers’ Association were present. Copies of ‘Periyar Pinju’, the monthly children magazine (Tamil) published by the Periyar Self Respect Propaganda Institution (PSRPI) were distributed to the school children.
Initiative and efforts are in progress for the formation of 4 more Periyar Libraries during the current year in the surrounding areas in Malaysia.
