For whom the BJP Government at the Centre is functioning?
It is like evicting the hungry people from the dining table and making the people who are overfed and
not hungry to take their place.
The Tamil Nadu Government must be vigilant –
should not get cheated
This Dravidian land, Periyar Soil, particularly Tamil Nadu is the beacon light in the field of Social Justice for other states of India.
In Tamil Nadu, 69 % reservation is provided and the remaining 31% vacancies is considered as Open Competition for which people belonging to all the castes/communities have to compete on their merit.
What is the percentage of Forward Communities?
This is the arrangement in Tamil Nadu that for this open competition, people belonging to forward communities have to compete with people belonging to other OBCs, SCs & STs. And in some other states, the percentage of population of forward community people may be somewhat higher. In Uttar Pradesh among the forward castes, Brahmins constitute nearly 16% and other forward communities are around 12% and totally more than 20%. They already represent more than their share in admission to educational institutions and appointment in Government service.
The BJP Government headed by Modi introduced a constitutional amendment bill hurriedly and passed in Parliament within 5 days, to provide 10% of reservations to so called ‘poor’ among the forward communities and urges the State governments to implement immediately by promising to offer additional posts and funds for this purpose.
Reservation is not a poverty eradication programme
Reservation is not a poverty eradication programme. It is intended to open the educational eyes of people who were deprived of the equal opportunities in education and employment. This is the judgement of Supreme Court of India.
Giving education and employment to these people is like treating a patient for prolonged illness. This is the words of verdict of the Supreme Court of India.
To whom priority is to be given in a common dining
Social Justice is like admitting and treating the patients in the hospitals, who are struggling for their life.
Providing reservations to people of forward communities is like admitting the fatty and healthy people coming for medical checkup and pushing out the people affected by diseases.
Is it not justice to give priority to the hungry people in the common dining hall? Can we allow people who are not hungry and overfed to take meals in the first batch? They are the people who have eaten well and suffering from indigestion.

There is no justification for Modi Government to extend 10% reservation to the ‘poor’ among forward castes; those of them having annual income of Rs. 8 lacs, own house and cultivable land are declared as poor in Modi government.
An article written by five research scholars and published by Economic and Political Weekly dated 8thJune 2019 (page 12) has given certain details:
The reason adduced for bringing a constitutional amendment to provide 10% reservation for the people, who are economically backward among the people of forward communities, is that they are not getting their due share in central educational institutions and employment opportunities in Central Government.
But what is the real fact?
These five research scholars have undertaken a survey in National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF) recognized by Ministry of Human Resource Development about the number of students belonging to the economically weaker sections among forward communities studying in the 445 Government and private higher educational institutions (as per the particulars available in 2018) and published their findings that the poo among forwards communities have already got 28% of admissions in these institutions and there is under representation, in fact over representation.
Oppressed communities will be affected
will be affected
If 10% reservation is provided, these forward communities will become overfed; and will be enjoying more than their population percentage.
Due to this special reservation for people of forward communities, a great danger is lurking for the OBCs, SCs and STs to loose substantially the number of seats and appointments they have secured after a stiff competition.
This scheme of reservation now being given on the basis of economic criteria is an attempt to demolish the basic structure of the Constitution of India.
Why such a hurry when the matter is in Court?
D.M.K., D.K., Viduthalai Siruthaigal Katchi and many organisations of Social Justice have filed petitions against this 10% reservation in High Courts and Supreme Court and when these petitions have not yet been taken for enquiry the Central Government is attempting the State Governments and private educational institutions with a promise of providing additional posts and funds.
Even in this issue, the Dravidian Movement, Tamil Nadu only is in a responsible position to open the eyes of the people and make them wise and active.
Govt. of Tamil Nadu to be cautious:
The Government of Tamil Nadu must be very careful, cautious and stubborn. To start with only a hole will be made in the wall, but in due course the wall itself will collapse. Be cautious and don’t get cheated!
