Expressing his displeasure over the protest of vocalist sisters Ranjani and Gayatri, against the Sangeeta Kalanidhi Award to be conferred on Carnatic musician T.M. Krishna, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru.M.K. Stalin has sated thus:
“Thiru T.M. Krishna has been talking time and again in favour of the small people who remain marginalised in society. Nursing a grudge against his political stand and progressive social thought, people of a particular sect are involved in criticising him with a concealed motive. This is quite unpleasant.”
“Thanthai Periyar strove for nearly three fourth a century for human equality based upon the noble principle of humanism. He fought for the dire need of women to live on a par with all others, with absolute equality in all respects. With this objective he trod on his noble path, relentlessly striving in a peaceful manner. Abusing him unnecessarily is certainly unjust. None of the people who have understood his thought and also read the life story of the Selfless Stalwart would ever dare sling slush on his great image.”
“The managing committee of ‘The Music Academy’ in Chennai deserves to be commended by us for having rightly selected Thiru.T.M.Krishna for the prestigious award, honouring his contribution to the Carnatic music world and recognising his incredible music talent.”
