The of the former Prime Minister of the country Dr.Manmohan Singh passed away at night on 26th December, 2024. We convey our heartfelt condolence over the sad news. He ruled admirably for ten long years. When the entire world was fidgeting into an economic abyss, he elevated India to great heights through his unfathomably deep knowledge in economics and his higher level of intellect.
There were a few who used to comment that he was an “accidental Prime Minister” but he did script new history by his exemplary virtues and exceptionally glorious life. The former Prime Minister was indeed an icon of economic reforms.
Among all other Prime Ministers the country had so far, Dr.Manmohan Singh is the one and only Stalwart who had served as the Governor of Reserve Bank of India (1982-1985) and also as the Finance Minister (1991-1996). While playing an active role in politics, he took the office of the Prime Minister quite unexpectedly on 22nd May 2004; completed consecutively two terms, upto 2014; proving his administrative competence, irrefutable capability and keenness of perception.
He had been soft spoken at all times and had never ever hurt anyone even unintentionally. His wisdom and humility were commendable. His deep understanding left a strong imprint on the economic policies of the country. He was practical in his approaches and clear as crystal in his speech. He had undeniably been a distinguished leader and a uniquely dignified gentleman of integrity. His passing away is an irreparable loss not only to the Congress party by also to the entire world of economics.
He has been a model for a splendid public life. He respected without animosity, even the views of those who disagreed with him. He would certainly be remembered by posterity through his everlasting place in history.

He never compromised with the personal likes and dislikes of others. He did at all times what seemed right to him and fulfilled his tasks with the utmost sense of duty and responsibility. His blemishless impeccable governance and his honesty deserve high praise.
Dr.Manmohan Singh had a very healthy and amicable relationship with respectful Kalaignar Karunanidhi and was instrumental behind several noble schemes through his camaraderie with him.
Dr. Manmohan Singh sincerely cared for the rights of Tamil Nadu and its development. The flyover from Chennai Port to Maduravoyal could be cited as an instance. The credit for this project goes to him. He magnanimously announced – “I am prepared to sanction a thousand crore rupees for this scheme. Do not stop the work. Complete it without any delay.” He deputed a special officer on his behalf with official directions and enabled the laying of the road and the flyover from the harbour upto Maduravoyal in the suburb of Chennai. His contribution towards this innovative scheme is unforgettable. As the Prime Minister, the interest shown by him in the welfare of Tamil Nadu and his productive steps for it would always be worthy of our remembrance.
We sincerely mourn his passing away and express our profound grief. Not merely a political party, but the entire country has lost an unequalled Stalwart. May his glory be everlasting in our memory!
