The RSS–BJP union government, led by Prime Minister Modi, has been acting every day in direct contradiction to the oath they swore on the Constitution when they assumed office. They convert their Hindutva ideology into common administrative laws
and policies of the State, enforcing them day after day, in every possible manner.
Treating both the Union Government and the State governments led by the same RSS–BJP alliance as Hindu Rashtra governments—and running them as such—is highly condemnable. Announcements like the reduction of GST are being proudly declared by the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister as “Diwali gifts”, pushing Hindutva ideology in the process.
Diwali is a religious festival. When the nation consists of citizens belonging to various religions and also people with no religious belief, enforcing one religion (Hinduism), one language (Sanskrit), and one culture (Aryan Vedic Sanatan culture) as the norm is nothing but the imposition of Aryan rule.
A Sudra, whether bought or unbought, he (the king)
may compel to do servile work; for he was created
by the Self-existent (Svayambhu) to be the slave of a
Brahmana. (Manusmriti 8.413)
A shocking directive has now been issued by the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment. It states: “Ancient documents such as the Manusmriti, the Yajnavalkya Smriti, the Narada Smriti, the Shukra Neeti and the Arthashastra strongly assert principles regarding State justice. They outline the duties of rulers in ensuring justice, fair wages, and the protection of labourers from exploitation.
Centuries before modern labour laws were framed, such theories governing labour were foundational aspects of Indian civilisation.
According to India’s traditional understanding, labour is not merely a means of livelihood; it is sacred and moral, sustaining social harmony and collective progress. This draft policy draws inspiration from these traditional documents and aligns with modern
labour principles.” Words such as “morality” and “sacredness” found in texts like the Manusmriti and Arthashastra, which are rooted in the Varnashrama system and birth-based caste hierarchy were used to stigmatize the labouring masses as “lower castes” and to turn them into hereditary “slave classes.” To use Dr. Ambedkar’s expression, they were reduced to Servile Classes – people denied the right to education, marriage, property, and live freely, making it nearly impossible for them to break free.
What do certain vital chapters of Manusmriti actually mean?
The king should order a Vaisya to trade, to lend money, to cultivate the land, or to tend cattle, and a Sudra to serve the twice-born castes. (8.410)
But a Sudra, whether bought or unbought, he (the king) may compel to do servile work; for he was created by the Self-existent (Svayambhu) to be the slave of a Brahmana. (8.413)
A Sudra, though emancipated by his master, is not released from servitude; since that is innate in him, who can set him free from it?
(8.414)
There are slaves of seven kinds, (viz.) he who is made a captive under a standard, he who serves for his daily food, he who is born in the (whore) house, he who is bought and he who is given, he who is inherited from ancestors, and he who is enslaved by way of punishment. (8.415)
A wife, a son, and a slave, these three are declared to have no property; the wealth which they earn is (acquired) for him to whom they belong. (8.416)
A Brahmana may confidently seize the goods of (his) Sudra (slave); for, as that (slave) can have no property, his master may take his
possessions. (8.417)
Are these the foundations on which the Union Government now intends to build India’s
labour policy? (A detailed article on this was
published on 16.11.2025 in the Marxist daily Theekathir—a welcome effort.) Is the Nation Being Pushed Back to the Brahminical Varnashrama Order? It is urgent and essential that this be opposed with the utmost severity. We must nip this in the bud.Everyone across the country must stay vigilant. The Government of Tamil Nadu and labour organisations must come forward to strongly resist this.
