ENCOURAGING HORSE TRADING BY THE CONSTITUTIONAL HEAD OF KARNATAKA
Dr. K.Veeramani, President, Dravidar Kazhagam issued statement of 17th May 2018 regarding the Karnataka Governor’s invitation to the BJP for forming the Government reads as follows.
The Governor of Karnataka is a staunch votary of the saffron brigade, who has been an active RSS member and who has the reputation of having founded Jan Sangh, the pre-runner of BJP, in Gujarat. He has totally ignored the judgment pronounced by the Supreme Court in the S.R.Bommai case and another similar case of 2006, by a seven judge bench and a five judge bench respectively while inviting BJP Chief Minister designate to form the Government while the party had only 104 members, and gave a long gap of fifteen days for proving the majority of his party, giving ample scope for horse trading. This is excellent example of an authority who had to safeguard the constitution endeavouring to sabotage it.
Even when H.D. Kumaraswamy presented all the 117 MLA’s of Congress, JD(s) and two independents at the Raj Bhavan and handed over a document bearing the signature of all the MLA’s that could not alter the Governor’s decision.
The Supreme Court’s majority judgment delivered by the 5 member bench clearly states that it is immaterial whether the alliance is post election or pre election and as long as the majority is proved it is legally acceptable.
The argument that fifteen of the Congress Ministers have been defected and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has lost in one of the constituencies is a proof that people have accepted BJP is not tenable. For, of the total votes polled BJP has cornered a mere 36.3 per cent while the Congress has polled 37.9 per cent of votes.
Not only that, BJP has lost its deposit in 29 constituencies and has trailed behind NOTA in some constituencies just as it did in Tamil Nadu.
When there is no absolute majority by the BJP with only 104 having been elected, it clearly indicates that the voters of Karnataka have not been prepared to make BJP the ruling party.
The ADMK Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu have hastened to greet Prime Minister Modi and the BJP President Amit Shah showing their abundant joy with the words. “You have made your first entry into the South with this victory”, as if they were digging their own grave.
Which is greater 104 or 117 in the number of MLA’s? The Governor of Karnataka has not only held 104 greater but had even given his blessing and a long period of 15 days to make 104 exceed 117.
As JD(S) leader Kumaraswami accused that about 8 or 9 MLAs of his party would be offered a cabinet birth and Rs. 100 crores each to lure them to the other side will be put into action.
Is it that easy for the Congress or JD(S) to protect their MLA’s?
The Governor’s purpose must be to install a stable government. But his present action is contrary to it. Assassination of democracy is likely to continue in the circumstances.
The Supreme Court has made its sitting through day and night for rendering justice P.Chidambaram’s single world ‘SALUTE’ has expressed everything.
The country is watching the woeful behaviour of the guardians of democracy. It will be good if the Supreme Court’s doors are kept open through day and night similarly for all the common people.
Wither is the country moving?
We got the independence only at midnight. Should we not wait for the dawn?

BJP’S MAJORITY IN 22 STATES IS MYTH OR MYSTERY?
Since 2014 Lok Sabha electioneering the BJP claims for the mandate of people by giving promises and the promises have been remaining only as such; there is no translation of the promises into practice. More than keeping up the promises, the BJP is hunger-greedy enough to capture power in States irrespective of the strength of its elected legislature members.
At present, BJP is thumping its chest that it has captured the power by securing the mandate of the people in 22 States out of the total 29 in the country.
This self beating of drum is not real but to give its pseudo projection as if it is a pan India political party with bases in all the States of the country.
Actually BJP has got absolute majority only in 10 State Legislative Assemblies out of the total of 29.
The position of BJP in the State Assemblies of the country is as follows:
0 in Sikkim
0 in Mizoram
0 in Tamil Nadu
4 out of 175 seats in Andhra Pradesh
1 out of 140 in Kerala
3 out of 117 in Punjab
3 out of 274 in West Bengal
5 out of 119 in Telangana
3 out of 70 in Delhi
10 out of 147 in Odisha
12 out of 60 in Nagaland
The position of BJP in the States where it is part of the ruling coalition:-
2 out of 60 in Meghalaya
53 out of 243 in Bihar
25 out of 87 in Jammu & Kashmir
13 out of 40 in Goa
Out of the total of 4139 Assembly seats all over the country, BJP’s share is a mere 1516.
Out of this share 950 of BJP’s MLAs have been elected only from 6 States viz. Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Is BJP in majority in 22 States? Is it myth or mystery? Is its chest thumping meaningful? The four year rule of BJP at the Centre is enriched only with slogans and has not resulted in real development and growth.
