The Indian Penal Code 1800. the code of Criminal Proceedure 1973 and the Evidence Act 1873 have been popularly known to people in common parlance. The contents of the Acts may be changed as per the present condition and requirements. What is the need of changing the name of the Acts into Hindi? It would be difficult to mention and quote in court proceedings in the non – Hindi speaking states and territories. The imposition of Hindi has reached its peak. The three Bills introduced on 11th August 2023 in the Lok sabha by the Union Government as the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita Bill, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Samhita Bill and the Bharatiya Sakshya Bill respectively have to be changed. They have to be directed to the standing committee of Lok sabha for debate and discussion at large.
All the more, the naming of any bill / Act in any language other than English is prohibited as per Art. 348 of Indian Constitution!
