Dr. K.Veeramani
Right from the President up to the members of the Panchayat Board, the administrators take an oath and swear in, promising to safeguard the dignity and excellence as well as the policies and doctrines of the Constitution. But the BJP rule headed by Modi – a political segment of the RSS – has been violating this in practice. It has been consistently acting against the basic aspects of the Indian Constitution by its laws, schemes and announcements that are indirectly contrast to it. The question of the people today is whether this is justified.
Unity in diversity – ignored
The BJP rule has turned upside down the governance of our country which is known for its diversity. The process seems to aim at a Unitary rule. They have captured the rule through the mandate of the people, promising development at all levels and new employment opportunities to the youth. Sugar coated toxic biscuits were offered to them abundantly as promises. It is puzzling why none of the promises has been kept so far. The deception is justified by them by admitting that they did not mean what they said and that every promise was just a “jumla” –absolutely hanky-panky!
Unity in diversity is an essential and exceptional polity of India. The rulers at the Centre are bent upon converting it at any cost as a unitary governance. This has been the long term target of the RSS.
The background of the scheme
One religion – Hindu religion, Hindu Rashtra
One culture – Sankskrit Culture (Aryan Culture)
One language – Sanskrit
One Ration Card – A ploy to diplomatically seize the rights of the States.
One Education Policy – Constitution-Contradiction
Thus, they have firmly clung to the word “ONE” in all respects.
The hidden agenda
Obviously the Hidden Agenda of the BJP headed Union government is to eradicate totally all the States and bring back a rule like that of the olden era kings paying taxes to the emperors. This is the strategy behind their scheme.
Strategic Scheme
Emulating the British Cabinet System, we have established a fully sovereign democratic republic, founded upon the principle of equality, egalitarianism and secularism. Their ploy is to convert it as a unitary rule headed by one diplomat, and make the Parliament devoid of freedom of speech and productive debates. By hook or crook they wish to misuse the “road-roller majority” that they possess and deprive us all of our fundamental rights. The ‘One Nation – One Election’ scheme is one of their latest strategies to test our patience and read the minds of the masses.
This scheme is against our Constitution and the noble intentions of the great thinkers who had framed it. It is impracticable in a vast nation like India. It is an attempt to lay the foundation for a dictatorial rule under the governance of an individual autocrat. It is gross violation of the basic features of the Constitution. It lays a short route to topple the governments ruled by the opposition parties, that had won the elections by the mandate of the people.
This announced scheme would defeat the purpose of our present electoral processes, approved and adumbrated in our Constitution. The States would be deprived of their rights if “One Nation- One Election’ scheme is implemented. The right to education and many such noble policies listed by the Constitution would get seized by the implementation. The entire country would turn topsy- turvy.
The baffling question
In case this anti-federalism scheme is implemented, what would happen to the State if the Union government is toppled at any stage? This is a baffling question of the people. If it happens, all the State governments would have to be dissolved. Under those circumstances, shall we all wait till the subsequent elections? All these would lead to utter confusion in the entire country, since it is always easier said than done.
The absolutely ridiculous scheme implies that the real objective embedded in it is to enthrone new Manudharma by enactment of a law and establish an undemocratic dictatorial rule in the country.
Driving nails on our own coffin
The scheme has been chalked out without any forethought of the consequences. People all over the country should save democracy and conserve the government of the people. Allowing this scheme to get implemented would only be like driving nails on our own coffin. We should all nip the scheme in the bud by collective efforts. Delay in action would only make us repent later after incurring irreparable losses. Hence, let us all prevent this anti-constitutional scheme synergetically.
