The function was conducted on 12.10.2019 at 6.45 pm at Los Cerritos Community Centre, Fremont, USA. The function was addressed by respected leader Dr.K.Veeramani, President, Dravidar Kazhagam. He spoke on Periyar Thoughts against oppression. His speech was really impressive and illuminating and enjoyed by the participants. A book titled “Captivating The Simple Hearted – A Struggle for Human Dignity in the Indian Subcontinent” by Bhajan Singh and Pieter Friedrich translated in Tamil was released by Dr.K.Veeramani at the function.
The author of the Book Mr.Bhajan Singh, Dr.Amrik Singh, Sikh Information Centre, Mr.Brian Wright, Organisation for Minorities of India spoke on the occasion.
Ms.Amirtha Subha welcomed the dignitaries and participants. G.Karunanidhy, General Secretary, AIOBC Federation and Secretary (External Relations), Dravidar Kazhagam made the introductory address. Mr. Gorky Kumaresan gave the vote of thanks. Ms.Suganthi, Alumni of Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology, Deemed University compered the event. People of various regions and states of India now in USA attended the event with their family members.
On behalf of America Quaide-Millet Peravai, respected leader Dr.Veeramani was awarded “Social Justice Warrior” by the organisers.

Alumni of Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology, Deemed University numbering about 15 members working in USA gathered and welcomed the leader Dr.Veeramani, who is also the Chancellor of the University.
Arivalagan Karunanidhy, Periyar International, California Chapter co-ordinated the event effectively. The hall was fully packed with nearly 130 participants. It is indeed a successful function organized by Periyar International, California Chapter, with co-sponsors – Sikh Information Centre and Organisation for Minorities of India.
The event understood the relevance of Periyar in to-day’s context of oppression at various levels throughout the world and endorsed the need to propagate the ideals of Periyar globally.
Participants requested to have more interactions in the coming months to expand the Periyar International, California Chapter.
