The Annual State Department report on International Religious freedom was recently released in Washington D.C. (U.S.). At the release event on 26th June 2024, Antony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State commented on the dire need of the protection of religious freedom in India. He expressed his concern over the rise in hate speech and anti-conversion laws in India.
Antony Blinken pointed out the demolition of homes of minority faith communities in India. According to him their places of worship are also being completely razed time and again in many Indian cities. People all over the world are striving to safeguard religious freedom in all the countries but the situation in India is worsening as per Antony Blinken’s remarks.
The U.S. report of 2023 on International Religious Freedom indicated that forced religious conversion is also a menace in India. Crimes in India against members of religious minority groups has become a serious issue of grave concern according to Antony Blinken. Religious freedom is under severe threat in India as per the report of the U.S. State Department.
We can never disagree with the remarks of the U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken. There is no flaw in his understanding. It is certainly not based on any misinformation, but what shocks us is the response of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. In 2023, it had stated that the report of the U.S. State Department was motivated and biased. Naturally, truth is always unpalatable, isn’t it dear readers?
