Tamil Nadu Progressive writers and Artists Association convened a ‘Sanatan Abolition Meet’ in Chennai on Saturday, 2nd September, 2023. Udhayanidhi Stalin, the DMK Youthwing Secretary and the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, delivered a speech on the occasion. The excerpts from the speech are as follows:
“Certain things must be abolished at any cost. To abolish Sanatana is now our prime task. Sanatana is against equality and social justice. Sanatana means it is eternal and cannot be changed, but the Communist Movement and the Dravidian Movement exist to change everything and raise questions.”
“Time and again from RajBhavan we hear repeated utterance of the word ‘Sanatana’. A newspaper publishes news that the lavatories in schools are stinking because of the overfed children. In the early days, arts and writings were used only to thrust Sanatana views on us. Only after the formation of the Communist Movement and the Dravidian Movement, art and literature and all written works were meant for the working class people, the suppressed and the downtrodden.”
“The renowned sage Vallalar implemented feeding the poor day and night without a break. Even today, in Vadalur, Tamil Nadu, the kitchen – fire once ignited by him remains unextinguished, preparing food for the poor. Inspired by that fire which is never put out our Chief Minister started the breakfast scheme for school children.”
“Sanatana divides people on the basis of caste and makes them live isolated and segregated, but Kalaignar M.Karunanidhi made people of all castes and communities live at one place and named it ‘egalitarian habitat’. He gave a crushing blow to Sanatana, by making all people live together. He enacted a law too ratifying the appointment of people of all castes as temple priests called ‘Archakas’.
The present Chief Minister issued placement orders to those who completed training as ‘Archakas’.”
I belive like the spread of diseases like COVID-19, Dengue, and Malaria by mosquitoes, the Sanatana is also responsible for many social evils.
“Sanatana enslaved women by not allowing them to step out of their home under any circumstance. It made widows perish on the funeral pyre of husband. The present day government headed by the DMK has granted free bus travel to all women. Modern women’s welfare scheme and monthly financial aid scheme for women are two other ideal welfare schemes.
“The State of Manipur is under the BJP rule. The people of the same soil have been split and violence incited. This is the true face of Sanatana there too. Besides, a new VishwakarmaYojana has been imposed in the pretext of encouraging artisans and skilled workers. The DMK would fight tooth and nail against this Yojana. Once when Rajaji introduced the hereditary occupational education scheme, it was opposed severely, forcing him to demit office as the Chief Minister. Likewise, the BJP headed government would face huge defeat in the forthcoming parliament election.
“We are all vigorously striving to have our children educated but these Fascists are planning to keep them uneducated and illiterate forever. The NEET exam is a part of their ploy and strategy. 21 of our young children have already lost their lives because of this unwarranted test. The State of Tamil Nadu has been at the forefront as far as medical education in India is concerned. This NEET has been imposed to sabotage the state which has been an ideal inspirational force.
“We have assured our people that the NEET exam would be eradicated. We are vigorously striving to keep our promise. Total elimination of NEET would infact be true victory for us. At this crucial hour, the warfare between Sanatana and Dravidam is at the peak. At this juncture, this meeting of ours would certainly irritate the Sanatanists. Let them envy us and grind their teeth.
“Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) recently convened a meet in Mumbai. Let us all strive by collective efforts for the victory of our Alliance. We shall win all the 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. Let Sanatana face a huge downfall. May a new era dawn shortly.”
