Ambedkar Thought Circle, Australia – PATCA and Periyar International, USA in Melbourne. Recently I unveiled the portrait of Thanthai Periyar at the world renowned Oxford University in London and released an English book pertaining to Periyar Thought. This conference is being held within a few months after that historic event. It proves that we are quite right in proudly saying time and again that ‘Thanthai Periyar’ is being globalised.
Thanthai Periyar started the Self-Respect Movement in 1925. Under his leadership the movement reached glorious heights. This
conference at Melbourne is being held in the Centenary year of Self-Respect Movement to spread Periyar Thought far and wide. As an ardent pupil of Thanthai Periyar I owe PATCA a debt of gratitude for honouring him. My hearty greetings to everyone behind this magnificent event.
Self-Respect always crops up from Humanism, which is its basic root. Thanthai Periyar and Baba Saheb Ambedkar were geniuses revered by the entire world. They were the suns of Self-Respect around whom the earth revolved around. Dominating toxic forces
and fabricators of myths were all crushed and singed under their heels. I am sure, this historic conference would make it clear as crystal that their noble thoughts and principles would ignite sparks of rebellion wherever there are oppressions and suppressions.
This conference seems to be a sequel to the speeches delivered by the President of Dravidar Kazhagam, respectful Asiriyar Ayya
and my beloved Sister, Advocate Arulmozhi, during their recent visits to Australia. Humanist Stalwarts, equality promoters and
noble activists from various parts of the world have assembled at the Conference venue like birds of the same feather. Their participation makes our journey towards an egalitarian society much more pleasant and strengthens our arms.
By the tireless efforts of your association, the Human Rights Commission of Australia has recognised caste based disparities as a racial extremism. This is a common victory for us all. Some dominating toxic forces are bent upon polluting your land by the same notorious strategies through which they caused unrest in our country. These elements were involved in caste based atrocities such as denial of jobs to the deserving needy, societal isolation, and denial of habitation rights. Those atrocities that we had been facing should not affect your peaceful land. Your efforts to nip them all in the bud are really commendable. I wish you continue to be vigilant at all times.
Within a short period following its inception, Periyar Ambedkar Thought Circle has organised a lot of productive events. It
has been submitting numerous appealing statements to the Australian Government. Your activities have been vigorous and
inspiring. I convey my hearty thanks to Dr.Soma Ilangovan, the President of Periyar International – America, for his invaluable
support to PATCA. The President of PATCA, Thiru. Annamalai Magizhnan deserves very high praise for his unflinching resolve in the
organisation of this conference. The Vice- President Dr.Muhammad Haroon and the Secretary Sumathi Vijayakumar also deserveapplause for their patronage and involvement. The Treasurer Thiru.Thirumalai Nambi and the Co-ordinator Thiru. Arangamurthy are also praiseworthy.
I wish all of you continue to contribute your sincere and laudable services and organise such events that would script history. May this conference achieve a thundering success.
