l Shoes Thrown at the Chief Justice of India?
l Are these continued insults because he
belongs to an oppressed community?
l The lawless intimidation of Hindutva
“Sanatana” forces against the judiciary!

Today, while proceedings were underway in the Supreme Court before the Hon’ble Chief
Justice of India, Justice B.R. Gavai, there was a disgraceful act to hurl a shoe at him. The person who did this act was lawyer Rakesh Kishore, who shouted: “We cannot allow
insults to Sanatana Dharma!” while doing so. That the Hindutva forces stoop to such disgraceful levels is nothing new to us. From
the very moment Justice B.R. Gavai assumed charge as the Chief Justice of India, venom and hostility have been directed at him. Being a member of an oppressed community and a progressive thinker, he has faced continuous humiliation. When he visited Maharashtra for the first time after taking charge as CJI, even the due honour and courtesy that must be extended by the
state were deliberately denied to him. What the Hindutva fascist forces cannot tolerate is that he is strictly functioning in accordance with the Constitution. The shoe hurled at him was not aimed at him as an individual alone; it was an attack intended
to intimidate the Indian judiciary itself. Justice B.R. Gavai is set to retire next month. This attack is also a warning to his successors, a
message of intimidation to those who will occupy the post after him. The act is not an isolated one—it carries the clear message that if judges act against the interests of Hindutva dominance, they will be humiliated. It is essential to identify the organisations behind such an act and take strong legal action against them. Yet, with remarkable composure and magnanimity, the Chief Justice said: “Do not get distracted; this does not affect me.” He calmly continued with the hearings, asking the lawyers to proceed with their arguments. This dignity and patience stand as proof of the many humiliations he has endured on his path to the highest position in the judiciary. The slogan of “Sanatana insult” shouted during the attack reveals the ideological background of this act very clearly.
The carried out humiliation of the Chief Justice of India deserves the strongest condemnation. The trend of threatening and intimidating the judiciary cannot and must not be tolerated. The people must recognize and reject these uncivilized, caste-arrogant Sanatana forces.
