At the Articulation of leader of Justice party origin
Sir R.K.Shanmukham was the Finance Minister of Independent India who presented the First Union Budget in 1947. On the reference of Mahatma Gandhi, Sir R.K.Shanmukham backed with acumen of fiscal management of the country was inducted into the Union Cabinet by the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, despite his opposition to the Congress Party in his public life starting as stalwart of Justice Party. Once, Mahatma Gandhi was listening to the informative and knowledge packed (economics principles and practices) articulation of Sir R.K.Shanmukham and amazed at him. Then he politely asked, “Mr.Shanmukham, there must be some Guru or role model for you to aspire for the scholarly acumen available in you. Who is he?” Sir R.K.Shanmukham replied immediately “Yes, one Guru is there for me. He is none other than your friend, Periyar E.V.Ramasamy”. Gandhi passively listened without any reaction but continued to astonish at the enlightened articulation of Sir R.K.Shanmukham.
